Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship Scheme 2026-27
For the 2026-27 cycle, the scheme covers Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Backward Class and Minority students of Jharkhand. A total of 50 students will be selected for one year postgraduate courses, including MA, MRes, MPhil and MBA programmes, at designated institutes across Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The seats are divided as 20 for Scheduled Tribes, 10 for Scheduled Castes, 14 for Backward Classes and 6 for Minority communities.

Who is Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda
Jaipal Singh Munda was born in an ST family at Takra Pahantoli hamlet in undivided Bihar. He used to look after cattle and was taken to England by missionaries after they recognised his exceptional talent. He graduated with Honours in Economics from St John's College, Oxford. Munda had left the coveted ICS and later captained the Indian Hockey team in the 1928 Amsterdam Olympic Games to win the gold medal. He returned to India in 1937 and became a voice for the rights of tribal people.
Approval and Launch of the Scheme
The scheme was approved by the state cabinet on 8 March 2021 in a meeting chaired by chief minister Hemant Soren. State cabinet resolution was published on the same day. The Jharkhand government had launched the MGJSMO Scholarship Scheme on 29 December 2020 with a provision to provide full financial support to tribal students of the state intending to do a one year Masters or a two year MPhil in select universities of the United Kingdom.

The scheme is reserved for residents who can provide a valid residential certificate. The total annual family income must not exceed ₹12 lakh. STEP 2 - After login, fill in the application form with your personal, academic and family details. Upload your offer letter from the respective UK institution and any documents related to your teaching or professional work experience.
STEP 3 - Upload the required documents, including your photo, signature, 10th marksheet or passing graduation final marksheet or degree, and the family income certificate with the ITR of family members for the financial year 2025-26.
STEP 4 - Review the form and submit it online before the last date. Keep a copy of the submitted application and the reference number for future use.
