Update: Maharashtra government has set aside ₹26,500 crore for the scheme in the 2026-27 state budget, which is lower than the ₹36,000 crore of 2025-26. The cut follows a drop in the number of eligible women after eKYC and verification. Around 1.65 crore women now get the monthly amount, and close to 92 lakh names were removed from the list during the checking drive.

What is Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana 2026?

Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana was announced in the 2024-25 state budget, and the first payment went out on 1 July 2024. Women aged 21 to 65 years from poor families receive ₹1,500 each month. This money helps them meet small household needs and stand on their own feet.

The scheme takes inspiration from the Ladli Behna Yojana of the Madhya Pradesh government. Many women can't meet their small needs because of weak money conditions and end up depending on others. With ₹1,500 coming in every month, they can improve the condition of their family and their own life.

Annual Budget

Maharashtra government runs this scheme to give money support to women aged 21 to 65 years from poor families. For 2026-27, the state has put ₹26,500 crore into the scheme. This is about 26 percent less than the ₹36,000 crore of 2025-26. The reason is simple. The number of women getting the benefit came down sharply after eKYC and verification, so the government needed less money than before.

Eligibility for Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana

To get the benefit of Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana 2026, a woman has to meet the criteria given below. Read them before applying or before checking your eKYC status.
