Farmers can now apply for a Kisan Credit Card (KCC) from their phone through Krishika, an Android app run by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Download the app, pick the KCC/Loan option, fill in your details, upload documents and submit. Your form goes to the bank you choose, so there's no need to stand in line at the branch to start the process.

Krishika is short for Kisan Rural Investment and Credit Assistance. It works on top of Kisan Rin Portal, which already links 35 commercial banks, 45 regional rural banks and 376 cooperative banks, with NABARD support. A Kisan Credit Card gives farm loans up to ₹5 lakh at 4% effective interest when you repay on time.

How to apply for KCC online through Krishika app

Krishika is free on Google Play Store. Sign-up works through your mobile number and Aadhaar verification, so keep the mobile number linked with Aadhaar switched on and with you while filling the form.

STEP 1 - Open Google Play Store, search for "Krishika" and install the app listed under Ministry of Agriculture. Already have it? Update it. The 20 September 2026 update fixed the problem where long names did not fit in the "Farmer Full Name (As per Aadhaar)" box.

STEP 2 - Open the app and register with your mobile number. Enter the OTP you receive and complete Aadhaar verification to create your farmer profile.

STEP 3 - On the home screen, tap the 'KCC/Loan' option to open the loan application form.

STEP 4 - Fill in the farmer details: full name exactly as written on Aadhaar, address, bank account, land details such as khasra or survey number and area, and the crops you plan to grow. Then choose the bank you want the KCC from.

STEP 5 - Upload clear photos or scans of the documents the app asks for. Take photos in good light, since the bank has to read every line of your land record.

STEP 6 - Check every entry once and tap Submit. Your application moves to the chosen bank's loan portal, and you can follow its status inside the app.

Your bank checks the documents and land record before fixing the loan limit. Government has asked banks to decide eligible Krishika applications within 15 days. If nothing moves after that, visit the branch you picked with your Aadhaar and land papers, call the Krishika helpline at 8006325940, or write to krishikacredit@gmail.com. Both are listed on the app's Play Store page.

No smartphone? A Krishi Sakhi, your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or a bank's Banking Correspondent can fill the Krishika form for you. Agriculture departments and lead banks are also holding camps in many districts to help farmers apply.

KCC loan amount and interest

Banks charge 7% a year on KCC loans. Central government pays banks 1.5% as interest subvention and gives farmers who repay on time a 3% prompt repayment incentive, so the real cost falls to 4%. This benefit now covers loans up to ₹5 lakh, raised from ₹3 lakh in Union Budget 2025-26. You can use the money for seeds, fertiliser, pesticides and irrigation, and also for cattle, poultry or fish rearing.

Who can apply for KCC through Krishika

Any farmer who grows crops or runs allied farm work can apply, whether or not the land is in their name. Banks also look at your loan history, and an unpaid old loan can stop a new KCC.

  • Owner farmers, applying alone or jointly with a family member.
  • Tenant farmers, oral lessees and sharecroppers who cultivate someone else's land.
  • Self Help Groups and Joint Liability Groups of farmers, including groups of tenant farmers.
  • Farmers who rear cattle, poultry or fish and need working capital for it.

Krishika was built mainly for farmers who already get PM Kisan or PMFBY benefits but have never taken a bank loan. Your bank decides final eligibility and the loan limit, so confirm both with the branch before you apply.

Documents required for KCC on Krishika app

Keep these ready as photos or scans before you start, so you don't have to stop the form halfway.

  • Aadhaar card, with a linked mobile number that can receive OTP.
  • Land record such as jamabandi, khatauni, 7/12 extract or patta, showing your name and khasra or survey number.
  • Bank passbook or account details of the account where you want the loan.
  • Recent passport-size photograph.
  • PAN card, if your bank asks for it.
