Bihar government has launched Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana (मुख्यमंत्री कन्या उत्थान योजना) as a major scheme to stop child marriage and give financial support to girls. The scheme has 3 parts covering the birth of a girl, passing the 10th or 12th (inter) examination and completing graduation.

Under this scheme, girls get ₹5,000 on birth, ₹25,000 after passing the 10th or 12th (inter) examination and ₹50,000 on completing graduation. Online registration for the 10th and 12th components is now open on the official portal at medhasoft.bihar.gov.in. Bihar Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana Apply Online

Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana is a universal scheme for all girls without any discrimination on the basis of caste, religion or income. The scheme is applicable for up to 2 girl children of a single family. Bihar government started implementing this scheme from April 2019 and it will benefit around 1.6 crore girls every year.

The incentive amount has now been increased. Girls now get ₹25,000 for passing the inter (10th / 12th) examination and ₹50,000 for completing graduation. The birth incentive of ₹5,000 is given in installments. The Bihar government released ₹700 crore in July 2026 to pay the ₹25,000 inter incentive to girls who passed Class 12 in 2026. Around 5.65 lakh eligible girls will get this amount directly in their bank account through DBT, in phases. All the girls have to apply online for the last 2 components, namely Mukhyamantri Balika Madhyamik +2 Protsahan Yojana and Mukhyamantri Balika Snatak Protsahan Yojana.

[10th, 12th] Mukhyamantri Balika Madhyamik +2 Protsahan Yojana Online Application Form

This component of Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana comes in the name of Mukhyamantri Balika Madhyamik +2 Protsahan Yojana (मुख्यमंत्री बालिका (माध्यमिक+2) प्रोत्साहन योजना). All the girls who have completed their 10th or 12th (inter) examinations can now apply online. Registration for the 2026 session is open on the official portal.

STEP 4 - To fill this form, girls are only required to make an online application for Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana (Madhyamik +2). All the applicants are not required to give any documents at their universities. All the beneficiary girls must be unmarried at the time of result declaration and for this, girls have to make a self declaration in the online application form itself.

This component of Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana comes in the name of Mukhyamantri Balika Snatak Protsahan Yojana (मुख्यमंत्री बालिका (स्नातक) प्रोत्साहन योजना). For this component, all the girls who have passed their graduation are required to fill the Bihar Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana online registration form and make login. The final result for the graduation incentive has been published for the 2022-25 period on the official portal.

In case your name is not present in the university list of students, then contact the university registrar for inclusion of name.

Details of Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana

The important features and highlights of Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana are as follows:-

• Bihar government will now spend ₹54,100 on each girl from the time of their birth up to their graduation apart from the existing schemes like scholarship, bicycle scheme, Students Credit Card etc.
• Now the state government will spend an enhanced amount of ₹300 for sanitary napkins (previously ₹150).
• The state government will give incentives to the girls as follows:-
  • Birth (₹5,000) - All the girls on their birth will now get ₹5,000 (previous amount was ₹2,000). This amount will be given as follows:-
    • Bihar government will provide the first installment of ₹2,000 at the time of birth of the girl child.
    • The state government will provide the second installment of ₹1,000 to the child once she turns 1 year old. For this amount, every 1 year old child must possess her biometrics linked with the Aadhaar Number.
    • The final installment of ₹2,000 will be given at the time of completion of immunization.
    • These incentives will help in achieving the target of complete immunization and aadhaar linkage.
  • Passing Intermediate Exams (₹25,000) - Under Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, a girl will get ₹25,000 as an incentive on passing the intermediate examination. To avail this amount there is a pre-condition that the girl is unmarried. Married girls are not entitled to avail this benefit. This step will help in preventing child marriage.
  • Passing Graduation Degree (₹50,000) - For this incentive, a girl must have passed the graduation degree from any institution. Moreover, these incentives are not subject to any precondition for marriage. All girls either married or unmarried can avail these benefits as at the time of passing graduation, a girl becomes a major.
• The universal scheme is applicable for all sections of society without any discrimination based on caste, religion or income. This scheme is applicable for up to 2 girl children of a family.

Bihar cabinet committee has also abolished the criteria of 40 per cent disability for acid victims and will now give ₹400 pension per month.

Objectives of Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana

The objectives for the launch of Kanya Utthan Yojana are as follows:-

Bihar government will now increase the uniform rates for girls of class 1st to 12th. The rate is now increased approx. ₹200 to ₹500.
