Chief Minister of Haryana, Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar has announced two new schemes for women labourers in the state. Under the two schemes, the state government would distribute free sewing machines and solar lanterns to women labourers. The schemes will help women labourers in the state become self-reliant and employable.
Free Sewing Machine Scheme
Under this scheme, the state government would provide free sewing machines to 50,000 women across the state. The sewing machines under the scheme will be provided only to eligible women labourers. The main objective of distributing free sewing machines is to enable women earn more and make them self-reliant and employable.
Free Solar Lantern Scheme
Apart from free sewing machines, 50,000 women labourers would also be provided solar lanterns free of cost. Solar lanterns would be provided only to women living in rural areas where electricity have not reached yet. The lanterns would help illuminate the houses where there is electricity facility so far.
The schemes were announced by the CM of Haryana on 18th December during an event. The CM also mentioned that out of total 59 lakh families in the state, 53 lakh have already been provided LPG gas connections and remaining 6 lakhs will also be provided soon under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
The government aims to make Haryana a Kerosene-free state very soon.
