Launch of CGQDC for OBC / EWS Population Record
Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel started the Chhattisgarh Quantifiable Data Commission to provide justice to the deprived sections of society. The CGQDC OBC / EWS census helped the state government create and maintain an OBC / EWS population record and create equal opportunities for these categories. The state government had taken several steps for the welfare of farmers, forest dwellers, labourers and landless people.
The state government had increased the reservation for OBCs from 14% to 27% through an ordinance on 4 September 2019. Apart from this, a provision of 10% reservation was also made for people from the EWS category.
However, this decision was challenged in the court, following which the Chhattisgarh High Court, while staying the implementation of the order, directed the state government to submit quantifiable data of the concerned population. In compliance with the High Court directive and to legally strengthen the reservation provisions, the state government constituted a Quantifiable Data Commission and launched its portal and mobile app.
The mobile app and web portal helped the commission complete its work in a systematic and accurate manner. A total of 5,549 supervisors were appointed for the survey in the state, of which 1,103 were appointed in urban areas and 4,446 in gram panchayat areas.
