The scheme is now run under Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan (PM-USP) Yojana and is officially called the Special Scholarship Scheme for J&K and Ladakh (SSSJKL). AICTE Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme 2026

PMSSS is a scholarship for the youth of J&K and Ladakh. It is also known as the AICTE JK Scholarship and is provided to students who want to study further. All India Council for Technical Education, under the rules of Ministry of Education, provides PMSSS Scholarship to eligible students. All the selected candidates get money help for academic fees and maintenance charges.

The scheme was launched in 2011 and has been modified from time to time to make it student friendly. Under the scheme, 5000 fresh scholarships are available every year. Out of these, 2070 are for general degree courses, 2830 for professional or engineering courses and 100 for medical courses.

PMSSS Registration Last Date for 2026-27

Online registration for the 2026-27 academic session under PMSSS started on 16 July 2026 for 10+2 students and on 17 July 2026 for engineering diploma students. AICTE has announced a final extension for registration and application submission for HSC and diploma students under PMSSS AY 2026-27.

Students are advised to register immediately and verify their documents instead of waiting for the last date. The lateral entry admission for diploma students will be based on the vacant seats available during the last academic year in the engineering stream only.

STEP 2: Click at "Diploma Registration" link to open AICTE JK PMSSS (Diploma) Registration Form will appear as shown below:-

STEP 3: Enter candidate name, father name, mother name, aadhar number, mobile number, e-mail ID, password, select year of passing, select family annual income, domicile status and click at "Register" button.

STEP 4: Then login using e-mail or candidate ID and password and click "Login" button.

Under the PMSSS scholarship scheme, students get money help of up to Rs 1.25 lakh per year as an academic fee along with a maintenance allowance of Rs 1 lakh per year in 10 equal instalments.
