PMMSY: Insulated Vehicles gives financial support as a subsidy so that fish farmers in Haryana can buy insulated reefer vehicles. The idea is to build a strong cold-chain for fish transport, cut down post-harvest losses and help farmers earn more from their produce.
Pmmsy Insulated Vehicles - Introduction
PMMSY: Insulated Vehicles works under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, run by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India. It is offered for individual fish farmers in Haryana and is implemented by the Fisheries Department. The scheme gives a fixed grant towards the cost of an insulated or reefer vehicle used for moving fish in a clean and safe way.
When a fish farmer gets a proper reefer vehicle, the fish stays fresh during travel and reaches the market in good condition. This brings better prices and reduces the wastage that often happens on the way. The government steps in with a subsidy so that buying such a vehicle does not become a money problem for a farmer.
