Youth Art Training Fellowship Scheme was started by Madhya Pradesh Culture Department to give young artists a monthly fellowship of ₹10,000 for three months along with training at government-recognised art and music institutions. Around 1,000 youth from across the state, roughly 20 from each district, were picked for music, dance, theatre, painting and craft training.
Notice for readers: Scheme has been closed or it was a one time scheme which has been closed by the government. As on 04 August 2026, Madhya Pradesh Culture Department has not released any fresh application notice for a new fellowship round. Check the department website given below before sending any form.
Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum, Bhopal handled the selection and the payment work for this fellowship. Selection was done through a written test and then an interview by a committee set up by the Directorate of Culture. Artists who finished the three-month training got a certificate from the department.
Fellowship money was fixed at ₹10,000 per month and was paid only for the approved training period of three months. So the total support per selected artist came to ₹30,000. There was no DBT tag on this scheme, and the payment went to the bank account given in the application form.
Youth Art Training Fellowship Scheme Details
Aim of this scheme was simple. Many young people in Madhya Pradesh learn folk, tribal and classical art from family or local gurus, but they never get formal training or money to keep going. This fellowship gave them both for a short period, under teachers at recognised institutions.

Benefits Given Under Fellowship
Selected artists got money support plus training, which is the main reason this fellowship stayed popular among young performers in the state. Benefits were kept fixed for everyone, with no separate slab by art form or district.
- Monthly fellowship of ₹10,000, paid for the three-month training period only.
- Training at government-recognised art and music institutions under trained teachers.
- Certificate from the department after the training is completed properly.
- Guidance in classical, tribal and folk art forms, which are hard to learn in a formal setup otherwise.
Who Can Apply
Rules for applying were kept short. A person had to be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh and between 18 and 35 years of age on the date of application. Interest and some basic practice in singing, instrumental music, dance, theatre, painting or craft work was required, and the committee checked this during the test and interview stage.
Domicile proof and date of birth proof were treated as the main checking documents. A person already getting another state fellowship for the same training period was not considered.
