Promotion of Duets/Duos/Trios/Quartets/Quintets/Choral Songs is a scheme run by the Tiatr Academy of Goa to preserve traditional singing styles that have slowly faded over the years. It supports budding and established artists by offering cash prizes and certificates to singers who perform original compositions in the traditional duet, duo, trio, quartet, quintet and choral formats.
Tiatr Academy of Goa has announced the 2026 edition of this singing competition. The finals are scheduled on 08/08/2026 at the Multipurpose Hall, Directorate of Art and Culture, Panaji, Goa. The last date to submit the application form was 24/07/2026. The scheme remains open as an annual event and gives young and senior singers a stage to keep the traditional tiatr singing style alive.
Promotion of Duets/Duos/Trios/Quartets/Quintets/Choral Songs - Introduction
This scheme was made to bring back the traditional way of singing duets, duos, trios, quartets, quintets and choral songs, exactly as the tiatr stage artists of earlier days performed them. It was noticed that while solo singing is very common, these group singing forms were slowly disappearing. So the Tiatr Academy of Goa framed this scheme to protect and encourage the correct traditional style.
The competition is held in two age groups. One group is for singers up to 16 years old and the other is for singers above 16 years up to 40 years, as on the day fixed for submission of the application. Winners and participants in both groups receive cash prizes and certificates as fixed by the academy.
