Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana: Maternal Nutrition is a welfare scheme run by the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Odisha. It provides nutrient-rich Take Home Rations (THR) to pregnant women and lactating mothers across the state.

This is one part of the larger Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana (MSPY), which works across all 338 Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) projects in Odisha. The scheme is being run for a five-year period, from the 2023-24 financial year to 2027-28, with a total budget of about 3354.40 crore.

Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana: Maternal Nutrition - Introduction

Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana: Maternal Nutrition gives pregnant women and lactating mothers extra, nutrient-dense food on top of what they already get under the Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP). The main aim is to improve maternal health, reduce low birth weight, and fight anaemia among mothers.

Along with the food, the scheme makes sure mothers get regular antenatal care (ANC) check-ups during Mamata Diwas, routine immunisation, and iron, calcium and deworming support. Anganwadi Workers (AWW) and ASHA workers also give health and nutrition counselling during home visits and at the Anganwadi Centre (AWC).
