Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) is a skill training scheme of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC). The Green Skill Development Programme Application Form is available online. Earlier the application was filled on the GSDP-ENVIS portal, but that portal is no longer working. Now candidates apply through the state ENVIS hubs and the official Google Forms shared by the programme centres. Here is the complete process to apply online for Green Skill Development Programme.

STEP 1 - First visit the official MoEF&CC page for Green Skill Development Programme at https://moef.gov.in/green-skill-development-program. This page gives the latest details of the scheme, the list of courses and the current status.

STEP 2 - Check the state ENVIS hub page for your state. For example, the Haryana ENVIS hub page at https://envis.haryana.gov.in/scheme/green-skill-development-programme-gsdp/ gives the application details and the Google Form link for GSDP courses.

STEP 3 - Open the Google Form link shared by the programme centre and fill in all the details asked in the Green Skill Development Programme Registration Form. After filling the details, hit the "Submit" button to complete the registration process for GSDP.

STEP 4 - Some states also accept a printed application form. For example, the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment has shared the GSDP application form PDF at https://kscste.kerala.gov.in/storage/2025/12/GSDP-Appllication-Form-English.pdf. Candidates can download this form, fill it and submit it to the concerned programme centre.

STEP 5 - After registration, candidates can track their application and course details through the same programme centre or state ENVIS hub. The training is conducted by 87 identified institutions, which include ENVIS hubs, ENVIS resource partners and autonomous bodies under the ministry.

Green Skill Development Programme App

Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) provides skill development training in the environment and forest sector so that youth can gain employment or self-employment. The ministry does this by using its vast network and Environmental Information System (ENVIS) hubs along with Resource Partners (RPs). The GSDP mobile app was launched on 14 May 2018 and contains basic information about the training programmes running under GSDP. The app is no longer available on the earlier Google Play link, so candidates should get the latest app link from their state ENVIS hub.

This application also provides information on the centres offering GSDP courses. GSDP develops a work force of green skilled workers who have high technical knowledge and are committed to the goal of sustainable development. GSDP also helps in attaining Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), National Biodiversity Targets (NBTs) and Waste Management Rules (2016).

These courses cover many areas and are aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), the National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE).

• Biodiversity Conservation and Para-taxonomy courses, which train youth to protect plants, animals and forests.

About Green Skill Development Programme

Most vocational training programmes focus on mechanical and technical skills rather than soft or green skills. Green skills help preserve or restore environmental quality for a sustainable future and include jobs that protect ecosystems and biodiversity, reduce energy and minimize waste and pollution.

BSI and ZSI were the nodal centres for the pilot programme.

Opportunities

Candidates who complete the GSDP courses may be employed gainfully in many places. The identified employers include institutions under MoEF&CC, biodiversity management committees, central and state pollution control boards, local bodies, industries, effluent treatment plants, wildlife and bird sanctuaries, zoos, national parks, wetland sites, eco tourism and wildlife tourism. These areas also offer good scope for self-employment.

Some of the places where trained candidates can find work are given below.

• Zoos, wildlife sanctuaries, national parks, biosphere reserves, botanical gardens, nurseries, wetland sites, State Biodiversity Boards, Biodiversity Management Committees and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau.
• Industries involved in production and manufacturing of green products, and as ETP operators.
• Tourism as nature and eco-tourist guides.
• Agriculture as organic farmers and green practitioners.
• Education and research sectors.
