AP YSR Vahana Mitra Scheme Latest Update

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday disbursed Rs. 261 crore under the YSR Vahana Mitra scheme providing financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 to drivers-cum-owners of auto-rickshaws, taxis, and maxi-cabs. It is the fourth consecutive year of uninterrupted support to the transport sector, and the scheme will benefit 2.61 lakh self-employed beneficiaries.

Speaking to the beneficiaries, Reddy said that the government had started the Vahana Mitra scheme within four months of coming to power. “During my 3,648 km long padayatra (political journey), innumerable auto and taxi drivers raised concerns about them facing difficulties in getting fitness certificates and insurance done for their respective vehicles citing financial issues. To ensure that no auto, taxi, or maxi-cab driver suffers or is forced to take loans at exorbitant rates of interest from private money lenders, we have come up with this scheme,” the Chief Minister said.

He further added, “Every family with an auto or taxi chooses a self-employment life, without being dependent on anyone. These families stand up on their own feet, providing transportation services to thousands of people daily. The government will always support them through the financial assistance provided through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). To date, the government had spent Rs 1,025 crore on YSR Vahana Mitra Scheme, wherein each beneficiary received Rs 40,000 in the last four years.”

Vahana Mitra is a welfare scheme for auto, taxi, and maxi-cab owners-cum-drivers under which the beneficiary will be given financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 per annum for annual maintenance of their vehicle. The scheme was launched in September 2019. Earlier, the state government had relaxed some guidelines so that more auto and car owners-cum-drivers can avail the benefit.

AP YSR Vahana Mitra Scheme Phase 3

Earlier in the 3rd phase of YSR Vahanamitra Scheme, AP govt. disbursed Rs. 248 crore to 2.48 lakh beneficiaries in which around 84% were poor. AP state govt. provides financial assistance under YSR Vahana Mitra Scheme to assist auto, taxi and maxi cab drivers. CM YS Jagan mentioned that financial aid would be very helpful during difficult times and that auto, taxi, cab drivers would pay Rs. 10,000 for fitness certificates and repairs along with auto insurance. CM said that Vahana Mitra scheme would help everyone who are eligible and would ensure that every driver abide by the traffic rules. CM Jagan advised that nobody should drive under the influence of alcohol.

AP Vahanamitra Yojana will benefit beneficiaries at a rate of Rs. 10,000 each for vehicle repairs, insurance and other expenses. The primary objective is to provide money to self employed auto and taxi cab drivers which could be useful for drivers for repair work, vehicle fitness and to cover insurance expenses. AP govt. credited the 1st installment in October 2019, 2nd installment on 4 June 2020, 3rd installment on 15 June 2021 and now 4th installment is released on 15 July 2022.

AP YSR Vahana Mitra Scheme Fourth Installment Released to Beneficiaries

Under Vahanmitra scheme 2024, self-owned auto/taxi/maxi cab drivers gets financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 to meet expenses like insurance, fitness certificate and repairs. In the first phase, around 2,36,343 beneficiaries were disbursed Rs. 10,000 each.

During the second phase of the scheme, 38,605 new applications were received and 37,756 new applications were sanctioned benefit. A total of 26,256 beneficiaries were sanctioned Rs 10,000 till 4 June 2020. The financial assistance for 11,501 beneficiaries was disbursed on 9 November 2020 by the State government. Minister for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao transferred the amounts into the accounts of the beneficiaries.

In the YSR Vahana Mitra Scheme Phase 3, CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had transferred Rs. 248.46 crore to around 2,48,468 beneficiaries on 15 June 2021. Now on 15th July 2022, CM Jagan transferred Rs. 261 crore to 2.61 lakh beneficiaries.
