PM-YASASVI Top Class College Education for OBC, EBC and DNT Students gives full financial support to meritorious students from OBC, EBC and DNT categories who take up higher studies beyond class XII in notified institutions. Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment funds this central sector scheme, and applications for the 2026-27 academic year are open on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
For the 2026-27 cycle, the list of Top Class institutions and the scholarship slots for each institute have already been notified. The notification dated 28 July 2026 covers more than 300 institutions with a total of 6,286 fresh slots in the first phase. Students admitted to institutes like IITs, IIMs, NITs, AIIMSs, NLUs and other notified colleges can apply online through NSP.
PM-YASASVI Top Class College Education for OBC, EBC and DNT Students - Overview
This scheme works as a sub-component of the PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India for OBCs and Others (PM-YASASVI). It is made for students who clear class XII and take admission in full-time courses at top class institutions. The government bears the full cost of the education through 100% central funding, so money problems do not stop a deserving student from studying at a good institute.
The scholarship, once awarded, continues till the completion of the course as long as the student keeps up satisfactory academic progress. Students have to submit a fresh application on NSP every year, even for renewal. Payment happens through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode, and the amount lands in the bank account of the student, who then pays the fee to the institute.

| Benefit Item | Financial Ceiling/Amount |
| Tuition Fee (Private Institutions) | Up to ₹2.00 lakh per annum |
| Tuition Fee (Flying Clubs for Commercial Pilot Training) | Up to ₹3.72 lakh per annum |

The scholarship is released through Direct Benefit Transfer after the student secures admission and starts attending classes. The student receives the amount in the bank account and has to deposit the tuition fee to the institute within one month of receiving the payment.
Eligibility
Students from OBC, EBC or DNT categories who take admission in a full-time prescribed course at any notified institution can apply. Total annual family income from all sources should be up to ₹2.50 lakh. Selection depends on the inter-se merit list of the institute, and preference goes to OBC students because most of the fund is earmarked for them. Those who miss out on a slot can still apply for the Post-Matric Scholarship for OBC, EBC and DNT Students.
Only two siblings from one family can get the benefit, and the student gives an affidavit that he or she is not the third sibling taking the support. Thirty percent of the slots at each institution are reserved for eligible girl students. The scholarship stops if the student fails to get promoted to the next semester or class.
For example, if Ramesh, an OBC student, gets admission in a top engineering college on merit and his combined family income stays within ₹2.50 lakh, he can get the scholarship if a slot is available and he ranks high in the institute merit list.

Applications for 2026-27 are invited on the National Scholarship Portal.
