Benefits
Identified children get intensive nutrition support for a period of 75 days from the date of enrollment. The June 2026 revision increased the daily cost from ₹14 per child to ₹18 per child, which means ₹12 per day from the regular Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) and ₹6 per day from MSPY. The state will spend roughly ₹10.7 crore extra every year on this increase.
During the 75-day cycle, children receive Take Home Ration (THR) items as given below:
| Type of Take Home Ration (THR) | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Modified Chhatua | As decided by the department |
| Besan Atta Premix | 500 gram |
| Banana | 10 pieces (4 per week) |
| Eggs | 16 pieces |
Modified Chhatua and Besan Atta Premix can be collected at the local Anganwadi Centre (AWC) on the 1st of every month. Eggs and bananas are given every week by the Anganwadi Worker. During the support period, the child gets regular growth monitoring and home visits with counseling. Once the child reaches normal nutritional status, support continues under the regular SNP. If a child does not reach the target within 75 days, one more cycle of support can be given on the advice of a health worker.
Eligibility
The scheme works through Anganwadi Centres, so there is no complex form to fill. The Anganwadi Worker decides eligibility during routine growth checks at the centre.
- Child must belong to a family residing in Odisha.
- Child must be between 6 months and 3 years of age.
- Child must be officially assessed as Severely Underweight (SUW) or Moderately Acute Malnourished (MAM) by an Anganwadi Worker or authorized ICDS staff. For example, if a child named Rahul is found undernourished during a routine health check at his Anganwadi Centre, he becomes eligible for this additional support.
Application Process
There is no online form or separate registration process for this scheme. Identification and enrollment happen at the Anganwadi Centre itself.
STEP 1 - Anganwadi Workers identify children as SUW or MAM during regular growth monitoring sessions at the Anganwadi Centre.
STEP 2 - Local enrollment is done at the nearest Anganwadi Centre by the Anganwadi Worker.
STEP 3 - Child's nutritional category is recorded in the official register maintained at the centre.
STEP 4 - The 75-day intensive nutrition support cycle starts immediately after enrollment.
STEP 5 - Anganwadi Workers hand over monthly rations along with weekly eggs and bananas, and visit the home regularly to track the child's improvement.
Documents
Parents or caregivers should keep these documents ready at the time of enrollment:
- Identity proof of parents or guardian.
