Kantedar Tarbandi Yojana is a Rajasthan government scheme that helps farmers protect their crops from stray animals and Nilgai. Under this scheme, eligible farmers get a subsidy for installing barbed wire fencing around their fields, and applications for the fencing subsidy are open online through the Raj Kisan Sathi portal for 2026.
Kantedar Tarbandi Yojana - Introduction
Kantedar Tarbandi Yojana (Khet Ki Tarbandi Yojana) started on July 21, 2017, under the Agriculture Department of Rajasthan. The scheme covers the cost of barbed and chain link fencing so that farmers can secure their fields without spending the full amount from their own pocket.
The Agriculture Commissionerate, Jaipur issued fresh guidelines for 2025-26 that relaxed the minimum land rule. Earlier, a farmer needed at least 1.5 hectares of land at one place to apply. With the new rules, farmers with as little as 0.5 hectare (about 2 bighas) of land at one place can also apply for the fencing subsidy. This change helps small and marginal farmers who were earlier left out of the scheme.
The government has set aside ₹50 crore for the fencing scheme in the 2025-26 budget, which is expected to benefit about 75,000 farmers and cover roughly 30,000 kilometres of fencing. The exact budget and target for 2026-27 will be confirmed when the department releases the fresh guidelines for the current year.
The scheme gives top priority to specific farmer groups so the benefit reaches those who need it most. The reservation share under the scheme is given below.
| Category | Priority Percentage |
|---|---|
| Scheduled Caste | 17.83% |
| Scheduled Tribe | 13.48% |
