Jute Resource-Cum-Production Centre is a National Jute Board (NJB) scheme under the National Jute Development Programme that sets up training and production hubs in local clusters across India. It works with experienced agencies to offer skill training, infrastructure, and production support for Jute Diversified Products, creating jobs for artisans and women-led groups while promoting a biodegradable alternative to plastic.
Jute Resource-Cum-Production Centre - Introduction
Jute Resource-Cum-Production Centre helps spread jute-based manufacturing across the country. Under the scheme, NJB collaborates with bonafide agencies that have the required infrastructure and experience in training and skilling programs. These agencies set up the centres in their local clusters and localities.
Collaborating agencies identify possible beneficiaries, including local artisans, individuals, members of Women Self Help Groups (WSHGs), NGOs, Cooperative Societies, and Trusts who want to make Jute Diversified Products (JDPs). The scheme gives these people the training and support needed to run a successful production unit. As per the February 2026 press release from the Ministry of Textiles, the scheme continues to run under the National Jute Development Programme, along with the Jute Raw Material Bank, Production Linked Incentive, and Capital Subsidy schemes.
