CBSE is running the Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child for girls who are the only child of their parents. A student who passes the CBSE Class 10 exam with 70% or more marks and joins Class 11 in a CBSE-affiliated school gets ₹1,000 per month for two years. The money reaches her bank account directly through ECS or NEFT.
Applications for the 2025 cycle closed on 02 December 2025, and schools verified the forms by 12 December 2025. Students who passed CBSE Class 10 in 2026 will be covered in the next cycle. CBSE announces the fresh application window on its official scholarship page at cbse.gov.in when it opens, so students should keep checking the website.
CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child
This scholarship is a way to support families who invest in the education of their only daughter. The Ministry of Education runs it through the Central Board of Secondary Education. The aim is simple. Money should not stop a meritorious single girl child from finishing Class 11 and 12 in a CBSE school.
The scheme pays ₹1,000 per month for a maximum of two years, which covers Class 11 and Class 12. Payment happens through ECS or NEFT only, so the money goes straight to the student's bank account. There is also a family income limit now. Students with a gross parental or family income of up to ₹8 lakh per year can apply under the scheme.
The student must study in a school affiliated to CBSE whose tuition fee stays within the limits given below.

|---|---|
| Class 10 Monthly Tuition Fee | ₹2,500 |
| Class 11 and 12 Monthly Tuition Fee | ₹3,000 |
