What Changed in RBSK 2.0
The main change is the wider screening scope. Along with the earlier 4 Ds conditions, RBSK 2.0 now covers developmental disorders, mental health issues and risk factors for non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension.
Referral and follow-up are also stronger now. Children identified during screening are tracked through the whole care path, from community level to facility-based diagnosis and treatment, which reduces dropouts. Screening still happens through mobile health teams at Anganwadi centers and government schools.

Benefits Under RBSK 2.0
All screening, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up services are free. Children who need surgery get it at tertiary level hospitals, and states can also use private empaneled hospitals for cases like cardiac problems and congenital defects. This saves poor families from paying treatment costs from their own pocket.
Between FY 2014-15 and FY 2023-24, RBSK reached around 160.82 crore children through 11,821 mobile health teams. Around 5.63 crore children got secondary or tertiary care treatment for identified health conditions.
