UIDAI runs its Internship Scheme in regular batches for students who want real work exposure in technology, legal and management fields. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) invited applications for the 2026 batch till 20 May 2026, with openings at the Technology Centre in Bengaluru and the Head Office in New Delhi. Selected students get a monthly stipend of up to ₹50,000 depending on their qualification and the work assigned to them.

Note: The application window for the 2026 batch closed on 20 May 2026. UIDAI accepts interns in batches through the year, so the next opening will be announced on the official website at uidai.gov.in. Students who meet the eligibility rules given below can start getting their documents ready for the next round.

Internship Scheme by UIDAI - Introduction

Internship Scheme by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) gives students hands-on training across technology tracks and various units at the UIDAI Head Office in New Delhi, the technology centre in Bengaluru, and regional offices. Work areas include application development, legal fields like cyber laws and IT acts, and general management.

The scheme helps reduce the gap between classroom learning and real work. During the internship, students get to see how UIDAI runs its systems and how Aadhaar related technology is applied. This experience helps improve career options in technical and legal fields later.

Objective

  1. To encourage young academic talent to contribute to UIDAI work and learn from it.
  2. To give students first-hand experience in technical fields while UIDAI benefits from fresh ideas and research.

Period

The internship runs for a minimum of six weeks and a maximum of 12 months. Note: A certificate is given only after the full required duration is completed.

Place of Internship

Interns can be posted at the technology centre in Bengaluru, UIDAI regional offices, or the Head Office in New Delhi. Some tasks may be assigned remotely under a project supervisor who holds at least the rank of director.

Eligibility

For Internship

1. The applicant must be a citizen of India.

2. The applicant must be a bonafide student of a recognized university or institution, either in India or abroad.

3. One of the following academic criteria must be met:

A) The student is in the 3rd or 4th year of a B.Tech/BE course with a minimum of 60% marks or a 6.0 GPA.

B) The student is a postgraduate in the 2nd semester or higher, or pursuing a PhD, with at least 60% marks in graduation.

C) If the student recently finished graduation or post-graduation and is waiting for higher studies, they can apply with at least 60% marks and within six months of the exam result declaration.

For the 2026 batch, UIDAI called applications from B.Tech/BE and M.Tech, B.Des and M.Des, and B.Math/B.Stat and M.Math/M.Stat students for the Bengaluru Technology Centre. The Head Office batch also had openings for legal (LLB/LLM), finance (MBA), media, and other streams. Preference was given to candidates who could commit to at least six months of internship.

For Fellowship

Students registered for a PhD at an Indian institution can apply for the fellowship. It runs for six to nine months and can be extended up to 12 months, with focus areas like cyber security, artificial intelligence, and public policy.

Application Process

For the 2026 batch, UIDAI moved the application process online. Applications were accepted only through the official online form shared in the notice, and the same method is expected for the coming batches.

STEP 1 - Read the internship policy and check the qualification required for the division or stream you want. UIDAI lists the exact educational qualification for each division in the notice.

STEP 2 - Fill the online application form on the NIC Forms portal linked in the official notice. Candidates can choose up to three divisions in order of preference. Fill only one form, because submitting more than one form leads to rejection.

STEP 3 - If you are still studying, get your application sponsored or forwarded by your institution in the format given in Annexure-C of the policy. A copy of the NOC has to be uploaded with the application form.

STEP 4 - Submit the form before the last date. For the 2026 batch the last date was 20 May 2026. Applications received after the deadline are not considered.

STEP 5 - UIDAI shortlists candidates based on merit and the relevance of their skills. Interviews may be conducted if required, and no TA/DA is paid for attending them. Final selection depends on the shortlist and the choice of divisions.

If the online portal is not available, applications can be sent to the concerned UIDAI regional office or headquarters as per the policy. For queries, candidates can contact the Director (HR) at dir.hr-hq@uidai.net.in or on 011-23478554.

Students who want more options can also check the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme which offers a monthly stipend of ₹9,000 for eligible young people.
