Andhra Pradesh government's overseas study scholarship, now known as NTR Videshi Vidya Deevena, supports students from SC/ST/BC/Minority/EBC including Kapu communities who want to pursue higher education abroad. After the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance came to power in the state in 2024, the scheme was renamed from Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena to NTR Videshi Vidya Deevena. The benefits, eligibility and application process continue unchanged under the new name.

NTR Videshi Vidya Deevena covers PG, Ph.D and MBBS courses at top global universities. Students who get admission in any of the top 100 universities as per the latest QS world university rankings get 100% of their tuition fee covered, while those admitted to universities ranked 101 to 200 get 50% of the tuition fee. The maximum scholarship amount goes up to Rs 1.5 crore per student.

NTR Videshi Vidya Deevena Scheme Registration 2026

Andhra Pradesh government is implementing NTR Videshi Vidya Deevena scheme to provide financial support to eligible students belonging to SC/ST/BC/Minority/EBC including Kapu students to pursue PG/Ph.D/MBBS courses in any of the 21 broad category of subjects in top 200 institutions/universities as per the latest QS and Times Higher Education world rankings. To apply, follow the process mentioned here:-

STEP 1: First of all, go to the official portal https://jnanabhumi.ap.gov.in/

STEP 2: On reaching the homepage, click at the "Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena (New)" link to open scheme details section.

STEP 3: At this page you will see "Click Here" link in front of 'Registration', click it to open the scheme portal login page.

STEP 4: Existing users can make login while new users can click "New Student, Please register" link to open the online registration form.

STEP 5: Select course group, country of overseas study, name of foreign university, enter UID (aadhaar) no. and accept to use aadhaar number for e-kyc to register for the scheme.

The portal is opened for students who seek fresh admissions for the academic year. Please check the following to register for NTR Videshi Vidya Deevena.

• Aadhaar number along with linked mobile number.
• 60% score in the final qualifying examination.
• Family annual income of less than Rs 8 lakhs.
• Valid income certificate.
• Valid caste certificate.
• Valid nativity certificate.
• Active bank account.
• Valid passport.

Benefits of NTR Videshi Vidya Deevena Scheme

The scholarship covers tuition fees, one-way economy airfare and visa fees for eligible students. Students admitted to any of the top 100 universities as per the latest QS world university rankings get 100% of their tuition fee covered, while those admitted to universities ranked 101 to 200 get 50% of the tuition fee. The maximum scholarship amount goes up to Rs 1.5 crore per student.

The scholarship is paid in four equal installments for PG courses into the listed bank account of the student. A one-way economy class ticket (lowest fare ticket) for the shortest route is payable upon production of a valid visa and admission particulars. The total visa fees are reimbursed to the student upon production of a valid visa and receipt of visa fee payment.

In 2023, more than 350 students from Andhra Pradesh received over Rs 45 crore through this scholarship. The scheme also reserves 33% of the awards for women candidates and 3% for specially abled candidates.

Eligibility Criteria for NTR Videshi Vidya Deevena Scheme

Candidates should meet the following conditions to apply under the scheme.

• Candidates should be a native of Andhra Pradesh.
• Maximum age should not exceed 35 years as on date of publication of notification.
• Family income shall not exceed Rs 8 lakhs per annum.
• Only one candidate per family eligible.
• The candidate who availed financial assistance under similar schemes from state or govt. of India is not eligible under the scheme.

Qualifications for NTR Videshi Vidya Deevena Scheme

The required qualifications for different courses are given below.

• For Post Graduate Courses: 60% marks or equivalent grade in foundation degree in engineering/ management/ pure sciences/ agriculture sciences/ medicine & nursing/ social sciences and humanities.
• For Ph.D. Course: 60% marks or equivalent grade in P.G course in engineering/ management/ pure sciences/ agriculture sciences/ medicine/ social sciences and humanities.
• For M.B.B.S Courses: 60% marks in intermediate or equivalent course.

About NTR Videshi Vidya Deevena Scheme 2026

Revamping the whole system followed by the previous government and in order to focus on qualitative education in foreign institutions, the government has decided to introduce a new scheme under 'Navaratnalu.' The name of the new scheme is NTR Videshi Vidya Deevena. The notification regarding the scheme is issued between September-December and January-May every year.

Selection Process under NTR Videshi Vidya Deevena Scheme

The selection process is scrutinised by a committee headed by the Chief Secretary to the Andhra Pradesh state government. The financial assistance is sanctioned to eligible students who get admissions in any of the top 200 universities as per the latest QS world university rankings only. A State Level Screening Committee reviews the applications and shortlists candidates based on academic merit, economic need and admission to a top-ranked university.
