Madhya Pradesh government is running State Government Backward Class Scholarship (Class 6 to 10) for school students from backward classes, and school-level entry of student details for the 2026-27 session is going on. Students in Classes 6 to 8 get ₹200 a year for boys and ₹300 a year for girls, and students in Classes 9 and 10 get ₹300 and ₹400 a year.
Money goes straight into the student's bank account. There is no separate online form for a student to fill on their own. School records decide everything, so the details entered by the school have to be correct.
State Government Backward Class Scholarship (Class 6 to 10) 2026
State Government Backward Class Scholarship (Class 6 to 10) is a state-funded scholarship run through the School Education Department, Madhya Pradesh, with the Backward Classes and Minority Welfare Department handling backward class scholarship rules. It helps families cover small study costs like copies, uniform bits and travel so that a child does not drop out in middle or high school.
To get it, a student has to be a permanent resident of Madhya Pradesh and belong to a backward class or minority community. Parents or guardians should not be income tax payers, and the family should not hold more than 10 acres of land.
Update for 2026
Scheme is still running in 2026 and has not been closed or merged with any other scholarship. Two things have changed on the ground though. Old Shiksha Portal address at shikshaportal.mp.gov.in is no longer opening, and school-level student and scholarship work has shifted to School Education Portal 3.0. Also, the yearly rates for this particular state scholarship are still the old small amounts, so students in Class 9 and 10 who want bigger help should also check the pre-matric scholarship options of the welfare department and the National Scholarship Portal, where the amounts are much higher.
Applications for the 2026-27 academic year are handled by schools after admission, so a student who took admission this session should get the details checked with the class teacher before the school closes its entry window.

How to Apply
Student does not sit and fill a form online. School does the entry, but the student has to give the papers and check that the record is right. Steps are given below.
STEP 1 - Meet the class teacher or the Principal of your school and tell them you want this backward class scholarship for Class 6 to 10, and ask which staff member is handling scholarship entry this session.
STEP 2 - Give a photocopy set of your caste certificate, domicile certificate, Aadhaar card, Samagra ID and bank passbook first page to the school, and keep the original with you for checking.
STEP 3 - School staff logs in to School Education Portal 3.0 at sederp.educationportal3.in and enters or updates your class, Samagra ID, caste and bank details against your enrolment record.
STEP 4 - Get your Aadhaar and Samagra linked with your bank account and make sure the account is DBT enabled, otherwise the payment will bounce back even after approval.
STEP 5 - After a few weeks, ask the school to show your scholarship status on the portal, and if the amount has not come, lodge a complaint on CM Helpline 181 or at your Janpad education office with your Samagra ID.
Scholarship Amount
Amount depends on which class the student is in and whether the student is a boy or a girl. Girls get a little more in both slabs.
| Class Level | Yearly Amount for Boys | Yearly Amount for Girls |
|---|---|---|
| Class 6 to 8 | ₹200 | ₹300 |
| Class 9 to 10 | ₹300 | ₹400 |
Note: Payment is made into the student's own bank account, so a wrong or closed account is the most common reason for money not reaching.
Who Can Apply
Rules are simple and mostly about residence, category and family income. Check the points below before giving papers to the school.
- Student should be studying in any class from 6 to 10 in a school in Madhya Pradesh, government or recognised.

For renewal in the next class, the family income should not have gone up in the past year, and a self declaration from the parent is asked for this.

- Domicile certificate of Madhya Pradesh.
- Bank passbook copy or account details in the student's name.
