Scheme for Setting Up of Industrial Estates supports organizations such as public and private limited companies, partnerships, sole proprietorships, and municipalities to build industrial estates for small-scale units. Managed by the Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development and Investment Corporation Limited (PIPDIC) under the Department of Industries and Commerce, Puducherry, this scheme covers the exclusive allotment of sheds and plots to small scale industrial (SSI) units, and applications are accepted only through the official online portal.

This scheme works as a sub-scheme under the broader Scheme for Infrastructure Development. It helps qualified businesses create dedicated industrial zones with a ready supply of functional sheds and serviced plots, so small units can get space to start and grow without the burden of building everything from scratch. The whole application flow, from registration to submission, is done online.

Scheme for Setting Up of Industrial Estates - Overview

PIPDIC was set up by the Government of Puducherry in 1974 with the twin aim of promoting industrial development in the Union Territory and giving financial support to entrepreneurs. Under this scheme, loan support is need based and is made for building industrial estates where sheds and plots can be allotted to deserving SSI units.

The assistance is open to all forms of business organizations. A company, a partnership firm, a sole proprietor, or even a municipality can apply as long as the project is meant for setting up industrial infrastructure for small scale units.

Benefits

This scheme gives need based financial support in the form of loans to build industrial estates. These estates are put up mainly for the easy allotment of sheds and plots to SSI units, so small businesses can get a firm start in the industrial sector.

Because the estates are planned with common infrastructure, units avoid the high cost of setting up independent facilities. This makes it easier for new small units to begin production and for existing units to expand into dedicated space.

  • Public limited companies and private limited companies that want to set up industrial estates for SSI units.
