Project Sankalp is a skill development scheme for Gujarat youth that offers industry-led vocational training at no cost. It was launched on 15th July 2020 by the Gujarat Skill Development Mission (GSDM), Labour and Employment Department, Government of Gujarat, and continues to help young people find sustainable jobs through training, apprenticeship programs, and certification.

The scheme works on a simple idea. Industries become the training partner, train youth in skills they really need, and are reimbursed by the government for the training cost. This way, youth get free industry-relevant training and industries get a trained workforce ready for work. Applications are accepted online through the official GSDM portal at skills.gujarat.gov.in.

Project Sankalp - Key Details

Project Sankalp focuses on making India a global hub for skilled talent by delivering high-quality, industry-specific training. It helps youth build sustainable career paths while supporting industries in finding skilled manpower. The scheme is fully online and free for candidates.

Assessment Cost Reimbursement

GSDM pays back the assessment cost directly to the respective Sector Skill Council, Gujarat Council of Vocational Training, or Kaushalya Skill University for both fresh candidates and existing employees. If a candidate is absent or fails the initial assessment, the industry partner should cover the re-assessment costs. Certification is given through these bodies after the training is complete.

Eligibility

To take part in Project Sankalp, candidates need to meet a few simple conditions. The rules differ for fresher trainees and existing employees.

  • Fresher Trainees: Must be a domicile of Gujarat and between 18 and 35 years old.
  • Existing Employees: Can be from any part of India and aged between 18 and 55 years.

The scheme also gives age relaxation to special groups. Women, persons with disability, and candidates from BPL, SC, or ST categories get up to 10 years of age relaxation. For example, a female candidate from an SC community qualifies for a 10-year age relaxation, making her eligible even if she is slightly older than the standard limit.
