Madhya Pradesh Labour Department is running Mrityu Ki Dasha Me Antyeshti Evam Anugrah Sahayata Yojana for families of registered construction workers who lose a family member. Under this scheme the heirs get ₹6,000 for funeral costs, and ex-gratia money of ₹2 lakh on normal death or ₹4 lakh if the death happened in an accident.
Madhya Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board has been running this scheme since 2004, and as on 04 August 2026 the same benefit amounts and rules apply. Money reaches the family through DBT payment in the bank account, so no middleman is involved.
Mrityu Ki Dasha Me Antyeshti Evam Anugrah Sahayata Yojana Details
Construction work is risky, and when a worker dies the family is left with sudden funeral costs and no income. This scheme covers both sides. Funeral support comes first, and then a bigger ex-gratia amount is approved for the legal heir. Disability is also covered. If a registered worker becomes permanently disabled in an accident, ₹2 lakh is given, and for partial permanent disability the amount is ₹1 lakh.

Who Can Apply
Claim is filed by the heir of the worker, not by the worker. Worker must have been a card holding member of the welfare board on the date of death. Death can be natural or by accident, both are covered. For disability claims, the worker himself applies with the medical papers.
Money is paid to the heirs in this order of preference.
- Wife or husband of the worker who holds a valid identity card.
- Sons, and unmarried daughters who were dependent on the worker.
- Dependent mother and father of the worker.
- If none of the above exist, any family member who was dependent on the worker for income.
How To Apply
Application is offline and has to be filed within 6 months from the date of death or accident. Claims filed late usually get rejected, so the family should start the paperwork soon after the death certificate is issued.
STEP 1 - Collect the filled application form from the nearest Lok Seva Kendra, Janpad Panchayat office or the office of the urban body. Form is also available with the labour inspector of the area.
STEP 2 - Attach the copy of the live registration card of the worker, the death certificate, and the bank passbook copy of the heir claiming the money.
STEP 3 - If the death was due to an accident, attach the FIR copy and the post mortem report as well. For a disability claim, attach the disability certificate from a government doctor.
STEP 4 - Submit the form in a rural area to the Chief Executive Officer of the Janpad Panchayat. In a city or town, submit it to the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation or the Chief Municipal Officer of the Nagar Palika.
STEP 5 - Officer checks the registration record and approves the case. After approval, the amount is credited to the bank account of the heir. Keep the receipt of the submitted form to follow up later.
