Kalia Scholarship provides money support to children of eligible beneficiary families under the Kalia scheme so they can study professional and technical courses in government institutions across Odisha. The amount reaches the student's bank account directly through DBT, and the Odisha State Scholarship Portal is now accepting fresh and renewal applications for the 2026-27 academic year.
KALIA stands for Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation, the farmer support scheme of the Odisha government. Kalia Scholarship is a part of this larger scheme, made for children of small and marginal farmers, sharecroppers, and landless agricultural households. Students get support for tuition fees, annual fees, admission charges, and a fixed monthly hostel and mess allowance.
Kalia Scholarship - Introduction
Kalia Scholarship helps children of eligible Kalia beneficiary families complete professional and technical courses in the state. For example, if a farmer named Ramesh, a verified Kalia beneficiary, has a daughter starting an engineering degree, this scheme covers her study costs. Support is given purely on merit for courses such as Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, Nursing, Pharmacy, and ITI trades in government institutions of Odisha.
Government of Odisha offers this scheme through the Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Department. Students must take admission in a state government institution on merit, and the scholarship stays limited to one professional course. The scheme is renewed every year based on the student's performance. For the 2026-27 academic year, the portal has started taking online applications, and the exact last date is displayed in the announcement section of the official website.
