Kalakar Kritadnyata Nidhi: Marriage Component is a part of the wider Kalakar Kritadnyata Nidhi (KKN) scheme of the Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa. It mainly helps aged and needy Goan artists who find it hard to pay for their daughter's wedding. The whole KKN family of help covers medical treatment, marriage of daughters, natural calamities, funeral of the artist, scholarships, self employment and lump sum grant. Under this component, the focus stays on the marriage of daughters.

Marriage component gives a fixed cash grant to support the family responsibilities of eligible artists. The amount is paid once per daughter and is not a recurring payment.

Money is sent directly through the Electronic Clearing System to the bank account of the applicant. If any part of the approved amount stays unused, it must be refunded to the government within 2 months of the marriage. Full details of the spending and the original vouchers have to be submitted to the department after the event.

Eligibility

To qualify for this support, the artist and the daughter must meet the conditions set by the Directorate of Art & Culture. These are given below.

• Applicant should be a needy Goan artist, born and brought up in the state of Goa.
• Applicant should have official recognition from the Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa.
• Applicant should be at least 50 years of age. Government may relax this rule for deserving cases under special circumstances.
• Total annual family income from all sources should not exceed ₹2,00,000.

For the dependent daughter, she must be fully dependent on the artist parent, must be unmarried at the time of application, and a maximum of two daughters are eligible for this help.

Documents Required

Along with the filled application form, certain documents have to be attached. Missing a required document leads to rejection of the application.

Application Process

STEP 1 - Visit the Directorate of Art & Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji, Goa to collect the prescribed application form for the scheme. A nominal form charge of ₹10 is payable.

STEP 2 - Fill out the form with correct details and attach all the required documents such as birth certificate, dependency certificate, income certificate and recognition certificate.

STEP 3 - Submit the completed application directly to the office at the address mentioned above.

STEP 4 - The Directorate forwards the file to a sub-committee for a detailed review. The committee verifies the eligibility and recommends to the government the appropriate amount if the applicant is found eligible.

STEP 5 - Once the government approves, the Director transfers the financial support directly to the bank account of the applicant through the Electronic Clearing System.
