Jute Design Resource Centre scheme helps the jute sector by providing modern designs, technical training and market-ready specifications to artisans, manufacturers and exporters. Launched by the National Jute Board under the Union Ministry of Textiles, the scheme continues to accept fresh applications in 2026 for design support and skill training.

The scheme works as a central hub that creates, develops and shares new market-driven designs. It helps entrepreneurs improve their products and make jute goods more useful and sellable in both domestic and export markets.

Jute Design Resource Centre Scheme - Introduction

National Jute Board runs the Jute Design Resource Centre scheme to strengthen the jute sector. It works as a single place where new designs are made and shared with eligible people. The main aim is to help jute artisans, small units and exporters make better products that sell well.

The scheme gives two ways to get designs. Under the free category, a unit can get up to 2 designs every quarter with the National Jute Board paying for all raw material and accessory costs. Under the cost-sharing model, a unit can ask for unlimited designs and the design and making charges are free, but the unit pays for raw materials and accessories.

Designs made under the cost-sharing model come with exclusive marketing rights for one year. If the unit registers a trademark within the first year, it gets full manufacturing and marketing rights for the trademark period. The scheme also gives free technical specification sheets and sample displays.

STEP 1 - Obtain the official requisition form from the scheme rules.

STEP 2 - Fill in all mandatory details, including registration status, GST number, Import-Export Code, and RCMC number.

STEP 3 - Specify if the design is for the domestic or export market.

STEP 4 - Indicate whether the application is under the free category or cost-sharing category.

STEP 5 - Submit the signed physical form to the relevant regional or head office of the National Jute Board.
