Turmeric Boiler support under the SPICED scheme helps turmeric growers install hygienic steam boiling units so the produce can meet export quality standards. The Spices Board, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, offers this financial support for the 2026-27 period, and applications opened on 1 July 2026.
Turmeric Boiler Support Under SPICED Scheme 2026-27
The old Integrated Scheme for Export Promotion and Quality Improvement in Spices and Research and Development of Cardamom ran during the 15th Finance Commission period from 2021-22 to 2025-26. This has now been replaced by the SPICED scheme, which stands for Sustainability in Spice Sector through Progressive, Innovative and Collaborative Interventions for Export Development. The SPICED scheme has been extended up to 30 September 2026 or until the new scheme for the 16th Finance Commission cycle is approved, whichever comes first.
Under SPICED, the Turmeric Boiler is one of the post-harvest improvement components. Fresh turmeric is cured by boiling the rhizomes and drying them in the sun. Conventional boiling in copper or iron vessels often leads to overcooking or undercooking, which spoils the colour and quality. Improved scientific cooking uses boilers with a perforated trough made of GI or MS sheet, which gives better colour and quality to the final produce.
By adopting this technology, growers can reduce contamination and meet the high-quality benchmarks needed for international trade. The scheme is part of a wider push to raise the value and export potential of Indian turmeric and other spices. The Spices Board official will inspect each application and recommend the eligible subsidy to the Zonal Assistant Director or Deputy Director of the regional office for sanction through the Field Office Automation system.
