Digital India Internship Scheme 2026 offers students practical professional experience under the mentorship of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The scheme gives Indian students a chance to work on live e-Governance and technology projects in New Delhi and earn a monthly stipend of ₹10,000.

MeitY runs this internship every year for students pursuing technical, legal and economics degrees. The Summer 2026 cycle opened on 10 April 2026 and the internship ran from 1 June 2026 to 31 July 2026. Applications for this cycle are now closed, and the scheme continues to open fresh rounds for eligible students.

Digital India Internship Scheme - Introduction

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) manages the Digital India Internship Scheme. The program provides practical exposure and professional experience to students studying in graduate or postgraduate degree programs related to technology, engineering, or management. Interns work on live projects associated with the Digital India initiative to gain insights into e-Governance operations.

National e-Governance Division (NeGD) helps implement this scheme under MeitY. The internship lasts for a minimum of two months, with an extension of up to three months possible based on performance. For the 2026 round, the Ministry has kept 51 internship slots across 33 domains, all based in New Delhi.
