CMHIS Nagaland Eligibility

CMHIS covers two groups of people in the state. For CMHIS-EP, regular state government employees, pensioners getting medical allowance, sitting and former legislators, and their dependent family members can apply. Staff of state autonomous bodies and corporations are also covered if they get a medical allowance.

For CMHIS-GEN, permanent or indigenous residents of Nagaland who are not covered under AB PM-JAY can apply. Contractual and ad-hoc government staff, non-dependent family members of CMHIS-EP holders, accredited journalists, and households outside PM-JAY also come under this part.

Documents Required for CMHIS Registration

Documents needed depend on the category you apply under. Keep both original and photocopies ready. Digital scans are also accepted on the portal at the time of upload.

For general category applicants, these papers are required:

  • Valid mobile number in your name for OTP and account updates.
  • Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate (IIC) or Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued after 2016 as proof of Nagaland residency.
  • Aadhaar card of every family member being added to the household record.

For state government employees, PIMS code is the main document. Employees without PIMS need to attach a photo ID, engagement or appointment order, proof of current service signed by the controlling officer, and the enrolment form countersigned by Village or Ward Chairman.

Pensioners need to submit the first three pages of the PPO book, a valid mobile number, and Aadhaar. Dependents also need to attach a birth certificate, Class X admit card, or Voter ID showing family relation with the primary member.

Benefits Under CMHIS Nagaland

Cashless treatment is the main benefit. Once your e-card is active, you can get admitted at any empanelled hospital in India without paying money upfront. Cover includes room charges, doctor fees, medicines during admission, surgeries, ICU care, dialysis, chemotherapy, and specific daycare procedures.

General category families get ₹5 lakh per year on a family floater basis. Employees and pensioners get ₹20 lakh per year. Pre-existing diseases are covered from day one. A few things like OPD visits, standalone tests, cosmetic surgery, dental care, and infertility treatment are not covered.

For state employees, room entitlement at the hospital follows Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) grade rules. If treatment costs go above the ₹20 lakh cap for employees, State Medical Board reviews the case and may approve extra support case-by-case.

CMHIS Nagaland Card Renewal

CMHIS cover is valid for one year and needs to be renewed to keep getting benefits. Renewal can be done through the same portal login page or by visiting a CSC. Only the mobile number linked at the time of first enrolment is required for OTP-based renewal. Keep track of your renewal date to avoid gaps in cover, mainly if a family member has a running treatment.
