Gujarat government's NAMO E-Tablet Yojana was launched on 17 July 2017 to help students with digital education. Under this scheme, eligible first-year college and polytechnic students get a branded Acer or Lenovo tablet by paying just ₹1,000, while the market price of the same tablet is around ₹8,000 to ₹9,000.

The main aim of NAMO E-Tablet Yojana is to support higher education with modern technology at a very low cost. In the original plan, nearly 3 lakh meritorious students were to be covered every year, and till now more than 3 lakh students have already received tablets under the scheme.
