Indian Railways is planning to bring new Luggage Weight & Size Chart and Rules in 2025 for passengers. As per the new baggage rules, travelers will have to follow fixed weight and size limits for their bags. Just like in flights, luggage will be checked on electronic weighing machines at big stations, starting first from Prayagraj Junction.

New rules for baggage allowance by Indian railways are being introduced to to give a safer and comfortable journey to passengers. Until now, too many passengers carry very heavy or oversized bags which can block space and passages in compartments. Now, new baggage weight and size limits have been set for every class in trains, and extra charges will apply if weight goes above the free allowance.
