Madhya Pradesh Forest Department is running Payment in Owner-Occupied / Public Forestry Case for registered private forest owners and Lok Vaniki farmers who want to sell their teak and sal wood. Payment reaches the farmer's bank account within 45 working days when the wood is sold at government-notified rates, and within 30 working days when it is sold through a separate lot.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the concerned division handles the whole process, from checking land papers to releasing the money by e-payment. No application fee is charged for this service, and the timelines are fixed under Madhya Pradesh Lok Sewa Guarantee rules, so a delay can be challenged through appeal.
Payment in Owner-Occupied / Public Forestry Case Madhya Pradesh
Farmers in Madhya Pradesh who own trees on their own land, called Malik Makbuza land, often struggle to get a fair price for timber. Through this scheme, teak (sagwan) and sal wood harvested from such private holdings can be handed over to the forest depot and sold either at rates fixed by the department or by putting the wood in a separate auction lot. Once the sale value is realised, money goes straight to the bank account.
Lok Vaniki farmers, who manage their tree holdings under a working plan approved by a registered Lok Vaniki officer, are covered as well. As of August 2026, the scheme is running and applications continue through the state service delivery system.

How to Apply Online
Application is taken online through the Madhya Pradesh state service portal, and the same login is used to track the file later. Keep your mobile number and land papers with you before you sit down to fill the form.
STEP 1 - Open the Madhya Pradesh Lok Sewa Guarantee service portal and look for the citizen registration or sign-up option on the homepage.
STEP 2 - Fill your name, mobile number and other required details, then verify the mobile number using the code that comes by SMS. Your user ID and password get created after this.
STEP 3 - Log in with the user ID, password and captcha, then go to the apply online service list and pick the forest department service for payment against sale of timber from private or Lok Vaniki holdings.
STEP 4 - Fill every field marked with a star, enter the depot details and timber quantity, upload the land ownership papers and bank passbook copy in the size and format asked, and submit the form. Note down the acknowledgement number.
STEP 5 - The forest officer of your range checks the land records and depot entry of the wood. After the check is cleared, e-payment is started and the amount is credited within the fixed working days.
Who Can Apply
Only owners of trees standing on private or recorded holdings in Madhya Pradesh can use this service, and the produce has to be the notified species. Rules are simple but land records must be clean, otherwise the file gets held up at the checking stage.
- Applicant should be a resident of Madhya Pradesh and the land should be within the state.
- Applicant should be a registered Malik Makbuza, that is a private forest or tree owner, or a farmer working under Lok Vaniki rules.
- Sale should be of specified forest produce only, which means teak (sagwan) and sal wood.
Documents Required
Papers proving the trees belong to you matter the most here. Bank details should match the name in the land record, otherwise the payment can bounce back.
- Proof of land ownership, such as Malik Makbuza certificate, khasra or other revenue record.
- Lok Vaniki farmer registration certificate, for those applying under Lok Vaniki.
- Depot receipt or challan of the timber handed over to the forest depot.
- Bank passbook copy with account number and IFSC for the DBT payment.
- Aadhaar card and mobile number for portal login and verification.
Updates in 2026
Forest produce work in Madhya Pradesh has moved further online during 2026. Vanopaj portal, the integrated forest produce management software of the department, has started the Form-127 facility for buyers from 22 July 2026, which covers transit and sale paperwork of forest produce. Van Suvidha portal of the forest department also handles online services linked to permissions and produce movement, so farmers selling timber may be asked to complete some steps there along with the service portal application.
Payment timelines of 45 working days and 30 working days have not changed. Rates for teak and sal are revised by the department from time to time, so check the current notified rate at your divisional office before deciding between a government-rate sale and a separate lot auction.
If Payment Gets Delayed
Timelines here are protected under the Lok Sewa Guarantee system, so a delay is not something you have to simply accept. First appeal can be filed within 30 days with the Regional Forest Conservator if the application is rejected or the money does not come on time. Second appeal can be filed within 60 days with the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Production) against the first appeal decision. Complaints can also be lodged on CM Helpline 181.
Farmers looking at other support from the state can also check the Nalkoop Khanan Yojana and the Free Electricity Supply Scheme for farmers in Madhya Pradesh.
