Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana 2026
Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana is a state plan scheme made to provide pucca houses to eligible rural households living in kutcha houses. The scheme covers families that are not already covered under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin, along with families affected by disasters such as cyclone, flood and fire.
Here are the main points of the scheme:
- The dwelling unit under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana is sanctioned preferably in the name of the woman head of the household.
- No contractor is involved in the construction of houses under the scheme. The beneficiary builds the house on their own.
- The fund under the scheme is credited to the beneficiary's bank account from the state level bank account through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS). No other form of payment is made under the scheme.
- The minimum carpet area of the house is 25 square meters including a hygienic cooking space and excluding the toilet. The roof material is mandatorily RCC or any other material of equivalent strength approved by the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department.
Components of BPGY Scheme
The Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana has two components. The first is Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (Normal) and the second is Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (Special).
The Normal component gives incentives to beneficiaries, officials and CBOs or NGOs involved in the rollout of the scheme for early completion of the house. The Special component is made for families affected by disasters such as flood, cyclone, fire, earthquake, elephant menace or violence.
Financial Support and Instalments
Eligible families get financial support of up to ₹1.30 lakh under the scheme. The amount is released in four instalments based on the stage of construction. The first instalment of ₹20,000 is released when the work order is issued, the second instalment of ₹35,000 when the plinth is completed, the third instalment of ₹45,000 at roof level and the fourth instalment of ₹30,000 on completion of the house.
For non-IAP areas, the instalments are ₹20,000, ₹30,000, ₹40,000 and ₹30,000, making a total of ₹1.20 lakh. Beneficiaries who complete the house early also get an incentive of ₹20,000 if completed within four months and ₹10,000 if completed within six months.
