Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy disbursed the fifth installment of Jagananna Chedodu to the beneficiaries accounts on 19 October 2023. The government released Rs. 325 crore for the 3.25 lakh beneficiaries including Rajakas, Nai Brahmins and tailors. Each eligible beneficiary received Rs. 10,000 directly into their bank account.

In the last four years under the previous government, the state government spent Rs. 1252.52 crore under Jagananna Chedodu, extending a total financial support of Rs. 40,000 to about 12.52 lakh Rajakas, Nayee Brahmins and tailors each. The scheme continues under the present government, and eligible artisan families can still apply and check their payment status.

Jagananna Chedodu Scheme Eligibility Criteria

To get the benefit of this scheme, the applicant must meet the eligibility conditions given below. The scheme is mainly for traditional artisan families from the Backward Classes community in Andhra Pradesh.

• The total family annual income should be less than or equal to Rs. 2,50,000.
• The total family land holding of the applicant should be wetland below 10 acres, or dry land below 25 acres, or wetland and dry land under 25 acres.
• No family member should be a government employee or government pensioner. Families of sanitary workers are exempted.
• The applicant must belong to one of the eligible occupational groups, such as Nayee Brahmin (barber), Rangrej (tailor) or Rajaka (washerman), and must be actively practising the traditional occupation.
• No member of the family should own a four-wheeler. Taxis, tractors and autos are exempted.
• The family of the applicant should not own any property, or should own property less than 1500 sq. ft. of built-up area in urban areas.
• No family member should be an income tax payee.
• The applicant must be a permanent resident of Andhra Pradesh and hold a valid BC caste certificate.

How to Apply For AP Jagananna Chedodu Scheme

Eligible artisan families can apply for the scheme through the official portal of the Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Department. The application process is given below in simple steps.

STEP 1 - Go to the official portal of the Andhra Pradesh Backward Classes Welfare Department at apbcwelfare.ap.gov.in and start a new registration with your mobile number.

STEP 2 - Confirm the OTP sent to your mobile number and log in to the Citizen Scheme Application page.

STEP 3 - Select "Jagananna Chedodu" from the schemes dropdown and click on "Submit".

STEP 4 - Fill in your personal details, contact details and bank account details, and upload the required documents like Aadhaar Card, BC caste certificate and income certificate.

STEP 5 - Verify the preview screen, submit the application and note down the acknowledgement ID for future reference.

After submission, the application is forwarded to the Welfare and Education Assistant (WEA) or Ward Welfare and Development Secretary (WWDS). The volunteers and officials conduct field verification, take eKYC, and forward the application to the Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) or Municipal Commissioner (MC). The final list of eligible and ineligible beneficiaries is published in all secretariats. The scheme benefit is paid to all eligible beneficiaries through Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS).
