Maharashtra RTE Admissions 2026-27: Maharashtra govt. has opened the online application window for RTE admissions for the academic year 2026-27. Parents can do online registration by filling the RTE Maharashtra admission online application form at the official RTE admission website at student.maharashtra.gov.in. The online application for the 2026-27 cycle started on 17 February 2026 and the last date to apply was 10 March 2026.

Under the Right to Education (RTE) Act of 2009, there is a 25% reservation for children to get admission in reputed private schools located in different cities of Maharashtra. This quota is meant for children from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Disadvantaged Groups (DG), including SC, ST, OBC and Divyang students. Update: The online application window for RTE Maharashtra Admission 2026-27 closed on 10 March 2026. The state has completed the computerised lottery and the admission process for the selected list is being carried out on the official portal.

RTE Maharashtra Admission 2026-27 Online Application Process

STEP 1 - Visit the official website at https://student.maharashtra.gov.in/adm_portal/Users/rte_index_new

STEP 2 - At the homepage, click on the "Online Application" tab present in the main menu.

STEP 3 - In the new window, all new users will have to register themselves by clicking on the "New Registration" link, which will open the RTE admission registration form as shown below:

STEP 4 - Create an account using a mobile number and verify it through OTP. Fill in all the details accurately and click on the "Register" button to complete the registration process. Afterwards, students can log in for RTE admissions with the User ID and Password received on their mobile number.

STEP 5 - The RTE Maharashtra admission online application form will appear as follows:

STEP 6 - Enter the child and parent details exactly as they appear on the official birth certificate. Pin the exact doorstep of the residence on the Google Map, as the distance is calculated automatically and minor errors can lead to disqualification. Then select the nearest schools in order of preference, review all details and click on "Submit" to download the acknowledgement receipt.

The RTE quota is made for children from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), defined as those with a family income below ₹1 lakh per year, and Disadvantaged Groups (DG), including SC, ST, OBC and Divyang (disabled) students.
