The state cabinet approved this scheme to give elderly people an easy chance to visit dev bhumi. The scheme is still in place and eligible senior citizens can use the bus fare concession for their pilgrimage travel across the state.

Along with this scheme, the state government also approved an increase in the old age pension amount for ex-servicemen or war widows from Rs. 500 to Rs. 3000. It also approved the start of Vigyan Gram Yojana in 5 districts. This scheme will start in Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts to boost agricultural production, non-farming activities and to preserve available resources.

For water conservation and rainwater harvesting, the government started "Jal se Krishi Ko Bal Yojana". The state government allocated a budgetary provision of Rs. 250 crore for this scheme. To encourage tourism, the government also started "Aaj Purani Raaho Se" Yojana.
