Jharkhand Petrol Subsidy Scheme gives eligible ration card holders a monthly petrol subsidy of ₹250 for their two-wheelers. The scheme is run by the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department and helps families covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) or Jharkhand State Food Security Scheme deal with rising fuel costs.
The scheme offers ₹25 per liter of petrol for up to 10 liters every month, paid directly into the linked bank account through direct benefit transfer (DBT). Registration for the scheme is open in 2026 through the official JSFSS portal and the CMSUPPORT app.
Petrol Subsidy Scheme
Jharkhand Petrol Subsidy Scheme, launched by the state government in January 2022, is one of the first state-level moves to give fuel price relief to poor families. Under this scheme, eligible two-wheeler owners get a cashback of ₹25 per liter on petrol, capped at 10 liters a month, which works out to ₹250 every month.
The money reaches the beneficiary directly through Aadhaar-based DBT using the PFMS system. The scheme is estimated to cost the state government around ₹901.86 crore every year, and it covers ration card holders across the state. Only two-wheelers registered in Jharkhand with a JH prefix are eligible, and only one person per ration card can claim the benefit.

Eligibility
General Eligibility
Before applying, make sure you meet the basic conditions set by the department. The following points explain who can apply for this scheme.
- You should have a valid ration card under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) or the Jharkhand State Food Security Scheme. Both central (PHH and AAY) and state (JSFSS) card holders are covered.
- Your Aadhaar number and the Aadhaar numbers of your family members must be linked and verified with the ration card. If the card is suspended, the petrol subsidy also stops.
- You should have an Aadhaar-linked bank account and an active mobile number for the OTP based verification.
Vehicle Eligibility
The vehicle conditions are just as important as the family conditions. Only two-wheelers that meet all the rules below can get the subsidy.
- You must hold a valid driving license.
- Your two-wheeler must be registered in your own name within Jharkhand, with a JH prefix on the registration number. A bike registered in another state is not eligible.
- Only one member per ration card can claim the subsidy, even if the family owns more than one two-wheeler. For example, if Ramesh holds a valid ration card and owns a bike registered in his name in Jharkhand, he can apply for this subsidy.

Verification and Disbursement
Once you submit your application, the District Transport Office (DTO) checks your vehicle details against the Vahan database. After their verification, the District Supply Officer (DSO) gives the final approval. If the status stays pending at DTO for more than 15 days, you can visit the DSO office with a physical copy of your RC and Aadhaar for a manual check. The subsidy amount is then paid through direct benefit transfer (DBT).
