Basic Agriculture Training Centre Scheme - Introduction
This training centre scheme focuses on educated unemployed young people living in rural Meghalaya who want to earn from farming. The training covers agriculture and related sectors and helps build entrepreneurship skills, so trainees can generate their own employment instead of waiting for a job.
Trainees receive free short-term training under the scheme. Along with the course, eligible candidates get a monthly stipend of ₹500 during training and a one-time seed money grant of ₹10,000 to set up their farm venture. Candidates who own or hold leased agricultural land get preference, because they can put the training to use right away on their own field.
