Jharkhand government's Maiyan Balwan Yojana is now helping women across the state start their own small businesses. The scheme was launched by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on 15 November 2025, on the 25th Foundation Day of Jharkhand. It takes forward the existing Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana and gives stronger financial support to women, especially those linked with Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
Under Maiya Samman Yojana, about 50 to 57 lakh women receive ₹2,500 every month. The state government distributes about ₹1,250 crore per month under this scheme. Maiyan Balwan Yojana adds a bigger layer of support on top of this. Eligible women can get financial help of ₹25,000 to ₹1 lakh to start or grow small businesses like shops, poultry farming, tailoring, mushroom farming, and similar work. The scheme also provides skill training and market support so that women can earn on their own.
