This will help them use solar energy for irrigation and reduce dependence on electricity. Under the Pradhan Mantri Krishak Mitra Surya Yojana, three lakh temporary and twenty lakh permanent pump connection holders will get this benefit.

Farmers with 3 HP and 5 HP temporary connections can choose to install 5 HP or 7.5 HP solar pumps. This step will also reduce the load on electricity bill subsidy.
