- Videographers
- Cartoonists and painters
Any of the above media personnel working in a daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly or tabloid newspaper, magazine, news agency, electronic media or new media (news based websites and web portals) as defined under The Working Journalist and other Newspaper Employees (Conditions of Service) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1985 will be included in the scheme.
The premium fixed under the scheme is paid by the state government and the insured media representative in the ratio of 80 and 20 respectively. This means the state covers most of the premium, while the journalist pays only a small share.
How to Claim Insured Amount in Jharkhand Media Journalist Health Insurance Scheme
Personal accident insurance of the insured media representative is Rs. 5 lakh. Apart from this, the dependents and all insured persons get group medical claim cover of up to Rs. 5 lakh for treatment costs. The insurance plan is valid for one year and can be renewed every year. The following documents are needed for a claim:-
- Information in the form fixed for the claim
- Copy of the FIR lodged at the police station
- Postmortem report or certificate of the medical board (as required)
- Death certificate
In case of death of the insured journalist in an accident, the claim can be made by the nominated member. In case of permanent disability, the insured journalist can file the claim himself.
