Delhi government has announced a new skill training scheme to give unemployed youth and artisans real opportunities. The scheme not only trains people in modern and traditional skills but also promises jobs and support for self-employment. The focus of this new scheme is to preserve India’s heritage crafts like Khadi while mixing them with modern training such as AI, IT support, and digital marketing.
The state government has set a total budget of ₹50 crore for this scheme. Under this new skill training scheme, the government will train more than 13,000 youth during 2025-26. Out of these, at least 20% will be guided towards self-employment, while at least 50% will get salaried jobs. To make training more useful, courses also include lessons on soft skills, marketing, and digital tools.
Delhi’s New Skill Training Scheme is also linked with PMEGP and other central schemes to provide extra loan and grant facilities for successful candidates. This scheme will be implemented by Delhi Khadi & Village Industries Board.
