Mukhyamantri Aanchal Amrit Yojana keeps young children healthy by serving them fortified and flavored milk enriched with Vitamins A and D at Anganwadi Centres four days a week. The scheme focuses on children between 3 and 6 years of age and is one of the main nutrition programmes of the Uttarakhand government.
In 2026, the Uttarakhand government continues this scheme for children enrolled at Anganwadi Centres across the state. Around 1.72 lakh children in nearly 20,000 Anganwadi Kendras receive 100 ml of sweet fortified milk every week, and ₹13 crore has been set aside in the state budget for this work.
Mukhyamantri Aanchal Amrit Yojana - Introduction
Mukhyamantri Aanchal Amrit Yojana was launched in Dehradun on 13 March 2020 by the then Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. The Women Empowerment and Child Development Department of Uttarakhand runs the scheme to fight malnutrition among young children and give them a stronger start in life.
The scheme serves free milk to children in the 3 to 6 years age group who come to Anganwadi Centres. Along with this, the state government has also widened the milk distribution for school children. Students in Class 1 to 8 now get nutritious milk once a week under the Mid Day Meal Scheme, which covers about 6.9 lakh children in 17,045 schools.
