Promotion of Science Education (POSE) Scholarship Scheme

Promotion of Science Education (POSE) Scholarship Scheme offers meritorious students of Haryana a chance to continue higher studies in basic and natural sciences. Haryana State Council for Science, Innovation & Technology (HSCSIT) offers this scheme every year and gives selected students a monthly scholarship of ₹4,000 to ₹6,000 along with a one-time mentorship grant. Online applications for the 2025-26 academic year were accepted from 19 November 2025 to 18 January 2026, and the next application cycle is expected to open later in 2026.

Scheme covers students who take admission in the first year of B.Sc, B.S, B.Stat, B.Math or integrated M.Sc/M.S courses in 22 identified science subjects. These subjects include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics, Geology, Astrophysics, Astronomy, Electronics, Botany, Zoology, Bio-Chemistry, Anthropology, Microbiology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanic Sciences, Ecology, Marine Biology, Genetics and Biophysics.

Promotion of Science Education (POSE) Scholarship Scheme - Introduction

POSE Scholarship Scheme is a state-level scheme of Haryana government. It encourages talented students to build careers in pure and applied science and reduces the money pressure that often forces bright students to leave science after Class XII. Scholarship is paid for all twelve months of the year in two half-yearly installments, and it can continue up to postgraduate level as long as the student maintains the required marks.

Students studying in reputed national institutes such as IIT, ISI, IISER, NISER, DAE-CBS or IISc are also covered under this scheme. These students do not need to meet the Class XII marks condition, because admission to these institutes is itself treated as proof of merit.

Selected students get a fixed monthly scholarship amount based on the year of study.

Mentorship Grant: Students also get a one-time mentorship grant for research project work under a professor or research supervisor. Grant amount is ₹12,000 for a 3-year B.Sc program, ₹17,000 for a 4-year B.S program and ₹22,000 for a 5-year integrated M.Sc program. Travel, accommodation, equipment and consumable expenses of the project can be reimbursed within this grant.

Scholarship money is transferred directly to the bank account of the student through NEFT or RTGS. Bank account must be linked with Aadhaar for smooth payment.

Eligibility

Below are the conditions to qualify for the POSE scholarship:

• Residence: Applicant should be a permanent resident of Haryana and should have passed Class X and Class XII from a school located in Haryana.
• Marks: Minimum 80% marks are required in Class XII for Haryana Board schools. Students from other boards like CBSE or ICSE need at least 85% marks.
• Outside Haryana: Students who passed schooling outside Haryana can still apply if they produce a valid Haryana Residence Certificate.
• National institutes: Marks condition does not apply to students admitted in IIT, ISI, IISER, NISER, DAE-CBS or IISc in basic and natural science courses.
• Other conditions: Only regular students are eligible. Distance, correspondence or private mode students cannot apply. Students should not be getting any other scholarship at the same time.

Selection Priority: First preference goes to students admitted in national institutes. Second preference goes to students admitted in the BS (4-year) or integrated M.Sc (5-year) programs in any university or institute of Haryana. Remaining scholarships are given on merit based on Class XII marks. Students who passed Class XI and XII from a rural area school get 2% extra weightage. In case of a tie, girl students are preferred, then students with a better English or Hindi language score, and then younger students.

Application Process

POSE scholarship applications are accepted only online through the Har-Chhatravratti portal of Directorate of Higher Education, Haryana. For the 2025-26 academic year, the portal was open from 19 November 2025 to 18 January 2026. Next cycle is expected to open later in 2026, so keep checking the portal.

STEP 1 - Visit the Har-Chhatravratti online application portal and go to the student registration section.

STEP 2 - Enter the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) Family ID linked with Aadhaar and verify it with the OTP received.

STEP 3 - Fill in the registration form and create a secure password to complete the registration.

STEP 4 - Login with the new user ID, click on 'Apply for Scholarship' and select 'Promotion of Science Education (POSE) Scholarship Scheme'.

STEP 5 - Upload the required documents, check all details carefully and submit the application.

STEP 6 - Save the application reference number and use it to track the application status on the same portal later.

Keep these documents ready before starting the online application:

• Scanned photograph and signature.
• Self-attested copy of Aadhaar card with PPP Family ID linked to it.
• Class X and Class XII mark sheets or certificates.
• Enrolment certificate issued by the college principal or registrar.
• Declaration stating that the student is not availing any other scholarship, countersigned by the head, principal or registrar.
• Caste certificate, if applicable.
• Rural school certificate signed by the school principal, Sarpanch or Gram Sachiv and the concerned BDPO, if claiming 2% rural weightage.
