Himachal Pradesh government has started a new HP Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarojgar (Parivahan) Yojana 2024. In HP Budget 2024, the state govt. has proposed to provide employment opportunities to jobless youth. Now such unemployed youths can run their vehicles and get route permits at concessional rates in order to earn money. Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarojgar (Parivahan) Yojana 2024 in Himachal Pradesh
There has been an expansion of road network in the state due to construction of new roads under various schemes of Union and State Government. As a result, there is an increase in demand for providing adequate bus services on these roads. In Himachal Pradesh Budget 2024, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur has announced to start Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarojgar (Parivahan) Yojana. In this scheme, govt. has proposed to ply upto 18 seater vehicles, on identified motorable routes, which do not have any bus service by giving route permits to the unemployed youth on concessional rates.
Strengthening of Himachal Road Transport Corporation in HP Budget 2024
The HP state government is committed to strengthen the Himachal Road Transport Corporation. CM announced to purchase 200 new buses including Electric buses to replace old buses in 2021-22. Mukhyamantri Jai Ram Thakur has also announced to provide Rs.15 crore to Himachal Road Transport Corporation for providing better facilities and upgradation of bus stands and workshops. Regional workshop at Dharamshala.
Dhali and Lakkar Bazar Bus stands in Shimla will be developed under Smart City Scheme in 2021-22. CM has proposed an outlay of Rs. 377 crore for Transport Corporation.
Other Steps for Transport Sector in HP Budget 2024
In addition to Swarna Jayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana, Transport department will take several steps for road safety and compliance of Motor Vehicle Rules in 2021-22. The administrative control of Passenger and Goods Tax has been transferred by the Government to the Transport Department which will rationalize all the vehicle related taxes under Single Motor Vehicle Tax System. With this system vehicle owner can
pay taxes at one place.
Transport Department will establish mobile automated testing centres at six identified places for testing fitness of vehicles in PPP mode. Moreover, Transport dept. will start e-Challan system using modern technique which will enhance road safety. Driving test tracks with modern facilities will be established in district Bilaspur, Solan, Mandi and Kangra districts to provide quality training to drivers and to reduce human intervention in testing driving skills for issuing of driving license.
The Location Tracking Devices and Panic Button System in public transport vehicles will be connected with the Command and Control Centre for safety of women and girls in emergency situation.
