Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in Uttarakhand provides free nutrition, immunization and health care to children below 6 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers through Anganwadi centres across the state. The scheme is implemented by the Department of Woman Empowerment & Child Development, Government of Uttarakhand, and continues to serve families in 2026-27.

Families in Uttarakhand can visit their nearest Anganwadi centre to get supplementary nutrition, health check-ups, vaccination and pre-school education. Registration is done at the centre itself with the help of the Anganwadi worker, so there is no separate online portal to apply for this scheme.

Integrated Child Development Services - Introduction

ICDS is one of the largest child development programmes in the country. In Uttarakhand, it is delivered through Anganwadi centres spread across all districts. The main aim is to improve the nutritional and health status of young children and mothers, lay the foundation for proper physical, psychological and social development of children, and reduce school dropout rates.

For example, if Sunita, a new mother in a village, enrolls at her nearest Anganwadi centre, she and her child get regular health advice, food supplements and immunization. This gives the child a healthier start in life.

Application Process

There is no separate online application for ICDS in Uttarakhand. Registration is done offline at the Anganwadi centre itself. The Anganwadi worker enters the details in the Poshan Tracker mobile app during registration.

STEP 1 - Find the nearest Anganwadi centre in your area. You can ask your Anganwadi worker, ASHA worker or the local Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) office for the centre location.

STEP 2 - Visit the Anganwadi centre with the required documents and tell the worker that you want to register yourself or your child under ICDS.

STEP 3 - The Anganwadi worker will check the documents and complete the digital entry using the Poshan Tracker app. After registration, the family starts getting the services from the next cycle.

For example, if Ramesh wants to register his daughter, he simply carries the required documents to the centre and the worker handles the digital entry.

Documents

Please carry the following documents when you visit the centre for registration:

  1. A clear copy of your Aadhaar Card (for the mother or child)
  2. An official Birth Certificate of the child

  • Take Home Ration (THR): Monthly supplies of wheat and fortified rice are given to eligible children, severely malnourished kids and mothers for nutrition at home.
