Breed Multiplication Farms - Livestock Development Board provides financial support to eligible farmers, groups and entities in Uttarakhand to set up high-quality cattle or buffalo breeding farms. Under Rashtriya Gokul Mission, a 50% capital subsidy is available, limited to ₹2 crore, to help make high genetic merit heifers easily available to local farmers.
Breed Multiplication Farms - Livestock Development Board is run by the Uttarakhand Livestock Development Board under the Department of Animal Husbandry. The scheme encourages private entrepreneurs, self-help groups, farmer producer companies and Section 8 companies to establish breed multiplication farms and improve the milk productivity and profitability of local livestock businesses.
Breed Multiplication Farms - Livestock Development Board - Introduction
Breed Multiplication Farms - Livestock Development Board works to improve livestock quality by helping eligible people set up specialised farms. The scheme operates under Rashtriya Gokul Mission, a central scheme led by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, and is implemented through the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
At present, farmers looking to take up dairying face difficulty in sourcing disease free, high yielding heifers or cows, and most depend on middlemen or other dairy farmers. This scheme creates a system to produce disease free elite animals of indigenous cattle and buffalo breeds so that farmers can buy superior breeding stock directly. The EOI for the scheme is submitted online at eoi.nddb.coop and there is no fixed last date, so eligible applicants can apply throughout the year.
