Artisan Promotion is a scheme by Delhi Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Minorities, and Safai Karamchari Finance and Development Corporation (DSFDC) for Delhi residents. It helps artisans from Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Minority, Safai Karamchari, and Persons with Disabilities categories cover expenses like participation fees, travel, lodging, boarding, and daily stipends when they show their craft at national level exhibitions.

DSFDC keeps nominating Delhi artisans for big national fairs every year. Shilpotsav at Dilli Haat, India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan, East Himalaya Expo, and Surajkund International Craft Mela are some of the main events where selected artisans get a chance to display and sell their work. Artisan Promotion is part of the Delhi government schemes list for local communities.

Artisan Promotion - Introduction

DSFDC runs this scheme under Delhi Social Welfare Department. The corporation pays the participation fee charged by national apex corporations and also takes care of lodging, boarding, and stipends for selected artisans. In simple words, an artisan only has to carry the craft and the required paperwork to the fair.

Artisans are nominated from five groups for these fairs: Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Minority, Safai Karamchari, and Persons with Disabilities. The support amount changes from one category to another and follows the norms of national apex corporations like NSFDC, NBCFDC, NMFDC, NSKFDC, and NHFDC.
